Note that Plaspy uses the same port for all supported devices and that the platform will detect the device protocol automatically once the tracker is sending data to the Plaspy endpoint.

Typical Requirements Before Setup​

  • A powered and accessible TopFly T8608 unit with a working OBDII connection in the vehicle.
  • A SIM card provisioned with data (and SMS if you plan to use SMS commands) and the correct APN details for the mobile operator.
  • Knowledge of the device SMS configuration method or access to the official TopFly configuration tool or documentation.
  • The T8608 device password if it has been changed from the factory default (the example commands below use the default password).
  • A way to confirm device reporting on Plaspy after setup, such as access to Plaspy account or diagnostic tools.
  • Basic tools or smartphone for sending SMS commands if using the SMS configuration flow.

How This Tracker Connects to Plaspy​

The TopFly T8608 is configured to send location and event data to the Plaspy server endpoint so the device is tracked and monitored on the platform. Once the device is pointed to Plaspy and able to reach the network, the platform will automatically detect the protocol and begin processing reports.

  • The tracker is configured with the Plaspy server address or IP and the shared port 8888.
  • Data is transmitted over the chosen transport, UDP or TCP, to the Plaspy endpoint.
  • The tracker reports periodic location updates according to its configured timer.
  • Plaspy detects the incoming protocol automatically and parses the device reports.
  • Events such as ignition, disconnection, or BLE sensor telemetry (if available and enabled) are forwarded to Plaspy for visibility.

Common Configuration Workflow​

  1. Ensure the T8608 is powered and has a valid, active SIM with the correct APN credentials for mobile data.
  2. Access the official TopFly configuration method for your unit. For many T8608 units this can be the SMS command interface described by the manufacturer.
  3. Enter the Plaspy server endpoint on the device configuration by using either the domain d.plaspy.com or the IP address 54.85.159.138.
  4. Set the port to 8888 and choose the transport mode UDP or TCP if the device requires a transport selection.
  5. Configure APN and any operator credentials required for GPRS connectivity.
  6. Apply or save the configuration on the device and restart the tracker if the device requires a reboot to apply changes.
  7. Validate that the device reports to Plaspy by checking device status in your Plaspy account or by watching for incoming reports to the configured endpoint.

Example Configuration Commands​

TopFly publishes an SMS-based setup flow for the T8608. The following public SMS commands are provided as examples in the manufacturer content. These use the device password 0000 as the default password in the examples. Replace 0000 with your device password if it has been changed.

Explanation of placeholders:

  • [apn] = APN name for the mobile operator

  • [apnu] = APN username if required (leave empty if not used)

  • [apnp] = APN password if required (leave empty if not used)

  • Set the GPRS server to the Plaspy IP and port

This command configures the device to send to Plaspy at IP 54.85.159.138 on port 8888. Some installations may alternatively accept the domain d.plaspy.com where TopFly firmware supports a domain entry; use the method supported by your firmware.

  • Set upload interval to 60 seconds

This example sets the device upload timer to 60 seconds. Adjust as required for your reporting needs.

Configuration Notes​

  • SMS-based configuration is commonly supported by the TopFly T8608; follow the exact SMS format and password rules used by your firmware version.
  • Different firmware or hardware revisions may accept domain names instead of an IP command, or present different command syntax. Check the manufacturer documentation for your exact firmware.
  • Choose UDP or TCP based on installer preference and network environment; Plaspy accepts either transport on port 8888 and will detect the protocol automatically.
  • Preserve APN placeholders when preparing commands and replace them with the operator credentials used by your SIM.
  • After applying settings, a device restart may be required for changes to take effect and begin reporting to Plaspy.
