TopTen - TK208 Configuration

This page documents the public configuration context for using the TopTen TK208 with Plaspy. It collects the Plaspy server settings and the known SMS-based commands and workflow used to point a TK208 tracker at the Plaspy platform. Use this guide to prepare the device and confirm it reports to Plaspy; it is not a substitute for the full manufacturer manual.

Plaspy uses shared server settings across supported devices and automatically detects the tracker protocol. Manufacturer-side setup steps for the TK208 can vary by firmware version, hardware revision, installation type, and vendor tools; the model configuration below shows the common SMS commands and placeholders that are publicly documented for this device class.

Configuration Overview

The TK208 is commonly configured to communicate with Plaspy by sending the device a small set of SMS configuration commands or using the official TopTen configuration tool where available. The primary goal is to set the device APN and server endpoint so the tracker can establish a GPRS (data) session and report location and event updates to Plaspy.

  • Configure the TK208 to point at the Plaspy server endpoint so it can send position and event data.
  • Set the APN and GPRS login credentials for the installed SIM using the device SMS configuration or vendor software.
  • Validate the device IMEI and the tracker identifier that Plaspy uses (the tracker ID is derived from the IMEI as described by the manufacturer).
  • Optionally restore factory settings before a fresh configuration when required.
  • Verify the device reports successfully to Plaspy and appears in the platform.

Plaspy Server Settings

When configuring the TK208 for Plaspy, use the following public server settings exactly as shown:

  • Server domain d.plaspy.com
  • Server IP 54.85.159.138
  • Port 8888
  • Transport support for UDP or TCP; the device may be configured to use either UDP or TCP on port 8888
  • Plaspy automatically detects the tracker protocol and all devices in Plaspy use the same port

These values are the public Plaspy endpoint settings to enter into the tracker configuration or include in SMS configuration commands.

Typical Requirements Before Setup

  • A powered and accessible TK208 unit with a working SIM card that can make SMS and GPRS data connections.
  • APN, APN username, and APN password for the mobile operator to populate into the device configuration (placeholders may appear as [apn], [apnu], [apnp]).
  • Knowledge of the device IMEI so you can identify the tracker ID used by the device and by Plaspy.
  • Access to the manufacturer's SMS command method or the official TopTen configuration software or tool.
  • A phone capable of sending SMS commands to the tracker if performing SMS-based configuration.
  • Basic platform access to Plaspy so you can validate the device is reporting after configuration.

How This Tracker Connects to Plaspy

The TK208 is configured to open a GPRS connection and send its location and event data to the Plaspy server endpoint and port. Once the server settings and APN are in place, Plaspy receives and decodes the tracker messages and presents device telemetry in the platform.

  • The tracker is pointed to the Plaspy server endpoint d.plaspy.com or the IP 54.85.159.138 on port 8888.
  • Device transport may be set to UDP or TCP; either may be used depending on device support and installer preference.
  • Plaspy automatically detects the tracker protocol when the device connects, so specifying the server and port is sufficient for protocol handling.
  • The device identifier used by Plaspy corresponds to the tracker ID derived from the device IMEI as reported in the device PAR output or IMEI-based identifier.
  • After configuration, the device reports location updates and event messages to Plaspy for operational monitoring.

Common Configuration Workflow

  1. Access the official TopTen configuration method: SMS commands or the manufacturer configuration tool.
  2. Verify the device IMEI and determine the tracker identifier (the TK208 uses the IMEI-derived identifier described by the manufacturer).
  3. Enter the Plaspy server as d.plaspy.com or use IP 54.85.159.138 in the server field.
  4. Set the device port to 8888 and choose UDP or TCP if the device requires a transport selection.
  5. Configure the APN and GPRS credentials (use the operator APN, and placeholders if needed).
  6. Apply or save the configuration and restart the device if the tracker requires a reboot for settings to take effect.
  7. Validate that the tracker reports to Plaspy and appears in the platform, checking connectivity and telemetry.

Example Configuration Commands

The TopTen TK208 supports SMS-based configuration. The following public commands are commonly used; send them as text messages from an administrative phone number to the device SMS number. Preserve placeholders as needed.

  • Optional initial factory restore (use only when a reset is required):
111111CLR
  • Set APN and GPRS server parameters and reporting interval (replace placeholders with operator values):
111111WWW:IPN:54.85.159.138;COM:8888;APN:[apn],[apnu],[apnp];RPT:60;SLP:60;RUN:2;
  • Explanation of placeholders:

    • [apn] = mobile operator APN name
    • [apnu] = APN username if required by the operator (leave blank if not used)
    • [apnp] = APN password if required by the operator (leave blank if not used)
  • The command above directs the tracker to the Plaspy server IP and port and includes example reporting and sleep parameters as shown in public documentation.

  • Query current WWW settings to verify the server and APN:

111111WWW:

Note: The public configuration shows the tracker ID is associated with the last 14 digits of the IMEI as reported in the PAR output. Use the device IMEI to determine the identifier Plaspy will receive.

Configuration Notes

  • Firmware differences and hardware revisions can change command syntax or available parameters; always confirm commands against the device firmware revision when possible.
  • The TK208 supports SMS-based configuration in addition to manufacturer tools; SMS is useful when remote access to configuration software is not available.
  • Choose UDP or TCP based on your installation and carrier behavior; Plaspy will automatically detect the tracker protocol once the device connects.
  • Plaspy uses the same port (8888) for all supported devices, simplifying multi-device configuration.
  • Keep APN credentials and the SIM subscription active and with data enabled so the device can establish a GPRS session.

Why Use Plaspy with This Configuration

Configuring the TopTen TK208 to report to Plaspy gives organizations vehicle visibility, event reporting, and centralized monitoring using a consistent server endpoint and port. The TK208’s OBD2 and optional RFID features complement fleet oversight by providing driver and vehicle context alongside position and alarm data when integrated with a platform like Plaspy.
