How This Tracker Connects to Plaspy​

The H29P is configured to report GPS and event telemetry to the shared Plaspy server endpoint and port so Plaspy can consume location, alarm, and state information for each asset. Once the tracker is pointing at Plaspy and GPRS is enabled, the platform will receive the device’s messages and automatically detect the protocol for parsing.

  • The device sends GPRS traffic to d.plaspy.com (or 54.85.159.138) on port 8888.
  • Plaspy receives incoming connections on port 8888 for all supported trackers.
  • Plaspy automatically detects the tracker protocol and parses location and event messages.
  • The H29P can report regular position updates and event-driven alarms to Plaspy for live monitoring.

Common Configuration Workflow​

  1. Access the official manufacturer configuration method for the H29P, typically SMS commands or the vendor installer tool, as documented by WanWay.
  2. Configure the carrier APN so the module can use mobile data. Send the APN SMS if using SMS setup.
  3. Enter the Plaspy server as d.plaspy.com or use the server IP 54.85.159.138 in the device server settings.
  4. Set the device port to 8888. Plaspy uses the same port for all devices.
  5. Choose UDP or TCP if the device requires a transport selection during server setup.
  6. Apply or save the configuration on the device and enable GPRS reporting or online mode.
  7. Restart the device if required by the manufacturer or when instructed by the device message flow.
  8. Validate connectivity and that the device reports to Plaspy using the provided verification commands or by checking the Plaspy platform for device online status.

Example Configuration Commands​

The H29P manufacturer provides SMS-based configuration commands. Send these SMS messages to the device from an authorized number in the order shown for initial setup.

  • Configure the carrier APN (replace placeholders with your carrier values). The APN username and password are optional if your carrier requires them:

Explanation: [apn] is your carrier APN. [apnu] and [apnp] are optional APN username and password fields when required by the operator.

  • Set the GPRS server to point to Plaspy on port 8888:

Note: This command sets server slot 1 to d.plaspy.com on port 8888 with the device-specific parameter shown as 0 in the example. Use the exact syntax required by your firmware.

  • Set the reporting/update interval (example sets two timers; modify numbers per your tracking policy):

Explanation: TIMER values configure reporting intervals. Confirm exact semantics in WanWay documentation for your firmware.

  • Switch the tracker to GPRS online reporting mode:
GPRSON,1#

Explanation: Enables GPRS reporting. Some devices require this or a similar command to start sending telemetry via the configured server.

  • The SERVER command above uses d.plaspy.com; you may use the numeric server IP 54.85.159.138 if name resolution is an issue, but the recommended configuration is the domain name so Plaspy can manage endpoints.
  • Set reporting intervals (TIMER) mindful of data usage and the need for timely event reporting, especially for anti-theft alerts.
