These are the public, shared settings to use when configuring a T8 to report to Plaspy. All devices in Plaspy use the same port and the platform will detect the device protocol automatically.

Typical Requirements Before Setup​

  • A charged and operational T8 device with a working SIM installed.
  • SMS-capable phone or manufacturer configuration tool to send commands to the tracker.
  • Correct APN settings for the mobile operator (APN name and optional username/password).
  • Basic familiarity with the T8 SMS command syntax or access to the official Winrich configuration documentation.
  • Physical access to the device for power cycling or pressing the SOS/test buttons if required.
  • A Plaspy account or access to your Plaspy administrator to confirm device visibility after configuration.

How This Tracker Connects to Plaspy​

The T8 is configured to send its location and events to the shared Plaspy server endpoint and port so Plaspy can provide live maps, alerts, and history. The device uses its cellular data link to reach the configured GPRS server and then Plaspy receives and interprets the messages.

  • Periodic location updates are sent to the Plaspy server at d.plaspy.com (or 54.85.159.138) on port 8888.
  • SOS emergency alerts are transmitted to the same Plaspy endpoint and appear as immediate notifications in Plaspy.
  • Geofence entry and exit events are reported to Plaspy so the platform can trigger configured alerts.
  • Connectivity and battery status updates are forwarded to Plaspy to support device health monitoring.
  • Plaspy uses automatic protocol detection so the device will be interpreted correctly once it reaches the server.

Common Configuration Workflow​

  1. Access the official manufacturer configuration method or software, or prepare an SMS-capable phone to send configuration messages to the T8.
  2. Configure the APN for the device so it can use cellular data for GPRS connections.
  3. Enter the Plaspy server address either as d.plaspy.com or 54.85.159.138 and set the server port to 8888.
  4. Choose UDP or TCP if the device requires a transport selection; both are supported by Plaspy.
  5. Apply/save the configuration on the device using the vendor method (SMS commands or configuration tool).
  6. Restart or power cycle the device if the manufacturer recommends it to apply network settings.
  7. Validate that the device reports to Plaspy by checking device status in the Plaspy platform and using device verification commands where available.

Example Configuration Commands​

The T8 supports SMS-based configuration. The following public SMS commands are commonly used in the order shown. Preserve placeholders when setting APN values.

  • Optional initial factory reset (use only if needed):

Explanation: [apn] is the APN name, [apnu] is the APN username (optional), and [apnp] is the APN password (optional). If your operator does not require username or password, send only the APN in place of [apn] and omit the other placeholders.

  • Set the GPRS server to the Plaspy endpoint and port:

Note: You may instead use the domain name d.plaspy.com in vendor tools that accept hostnames. The device also accepts numeric IP.

  • Set the update interval to 60 seconds:

Send each command as an individual SMS to the device. Keep the order when performing a fresh setup: configuring APN and server settings before enabling frequent reporting helps avoid connection failures.

Configuration Notes​

  • SMS-based setup is supported and commonly used for the T8; manufacturer tools or configuration software may offer equivalent options.
  • Firmware versions and hardware revisions can change command behavior or available features; verify commands against the device firmware you have.
  • When given the choice, test both UDP and TCP transport if connectivity issues occur; Plaspy supports both and will detect protocol automatically.
  • Plaspy uses the same port for all supported devices, so set port 8888 when configuring the T8 to report to Plaspy.
  • Preserve APN placeholders exactly when composing commands and substitute them with values supplied by your mobile operator.
